A portable sauna room is one of the easier lines to add to a wellness range: it ships by parcel or LCL rather than a container of heavy equipment, and the range is small enough that a buyer can hold every model in the catalogue. It is also a line where two suppliers can quote what looks like the same product at very different prices, because four decisions carry most of the cost.
These are two different products for two different buyers. An indoor steam room is a fabric shell over a stainless steel frame, heated by an electric steam generator — a personal product for the home or a treatment room. An outdoor sauna tent is a larger padded shell with a stove pipe port, and it needs a wood burning stove to go with it. Stocking both is possible, but they carry different packaging, different compliance questions and different freight.
Seating capacity drives the footprint, the steamer requirement and the carton size. In this range the options are 1-person rooms at 80 × 80 × 180 cm, 2-person rooms at 120 × 80 × 180 cm, and tents from 150 × 150 × 165 cm up to 210 × 210 × 220 cm. Once the size is fixed, the feature question is usually red light: three models pair the steam generator with an LED stripe or a red light panel.
Voltage, plug type and the compliance documents for the destination market are part of the product, not an afterthought. Tell the factory the market with the enquiry, not after the sample arrives: the steamer, the controller and the paperwork all change with it.
Ask for the specification table, not a brochure. If a supplier cannot give you a steamer capacity, a footprint and a timer range for the model they are quoting, the quotation is not comparable with another one.
The accessory list is where retail-ready differences hide. A room can ship with the shell, two steam hoses, a steamer, a foldable chair and a remote control — or with less. Ask for the list in writing and price against it.
Those five lines are enough for a factory to recommend a model, confirm the MOQ and quote it. Anything less and the quotation comes back hedged, which costs you a week.
