A sauna sample is not only a units that looks right in a photograph. It is the point where a commercial idea becomes a fixed product specification. The most useful sample approval process records the shell, frame, heating system, controls, accessories, branding and packaging together, so the production order has one clear reference.
A change that looks minor on a sample can carry cost through the whole order. A new logo size may require a new print or embroidery file. A different controller may change the wiring, manual or carton insert. A different carton may change the freight profile. Record the approved version rather than relying on chat messages.
Sampling starts after the specification is confirmed, not when the first enquiry arrives. The factory needs the model, quantity expectation, market, customisation choices and packaging brief before the sample build can be scheduled. In a typical ODM project, the sample is configured from an existing platform and can move faster because the structure is already established.
An OEM sample may begin with a new footprint, a different fabric specification, a new controller layout or another structural change. That path needs more engineering review. Regardless of route, the buyer should approve the physical sample and the supporting artwork before mass production, not after the container is packed.
At minimum, request full-product front and side views, a close-up of branding, the controller, the heating unit, the seam and the packed carton. If the product has a tent and stove, photograph the stove port, jack cover and packed accessories. These images create a shared record of the approved configuration.
ODM means configuring a product that already exists. OEM means building to a specification that may not exist yet. ODM samples usually focus on colour, fabric, logo and packaging. OEM samples may also test frame geometry, electrical layout and a different accessory set. Neither should be judged only by the headline unit price.
Before the sample is shipped, agree what an approval means and who signs it off. The approved sample, specification sheet, artwork files and accessory list should all describe the same revision.
Sampling in this range runs 7–15 days from the confirmed specification, and mass production runs 25–45 days depending on the model mix and order plan. Send the project brief with the market and volume early; that is what makes the later sample approval useful.
